Motorola legt Termin für das Milestone 2 Gingerbread Update fest

Gerade hat Motorola auf der Facebook Seite folgendes geschrieben:

"News for Eueopean Motorola Milestone 2 owners. The upgrade to Gingergread will begin tomorrow, we will be rolling out in stages and so please watch this space for more information. Thanks!"

"Viele von euch warten auf das Update 2.3 für das Motorola MILESTONE 2. Wir sind gerade in der finalen Testphase und werden voraussichtlich Ende November mit dem Rollout starten. Wir halten euch natürlich hier auf dem Laufenden. Vielen Dank für eure Geduld!"

Zuersthaben sie es von "frühes viertes Quartal" auf "Mitte November" verschoben und jetzt auf "Ende November". Mal sehen, ob sie diesmal ihr Wort halten, die Kommentare zu dem Beitrag scheinen eher daran zu zweifeln ...

xperiablog.net reached an agreement with Sony Ericsson and is back blogging

Today I couldn't believe when I read their tweet:

"We are delighted to report that we have come to an agreement with Sony Ericsson that means our two affected blogs (XperiaBlog.net and XperiaX10.net) will remain open. The downtime we have experienced since October 18th was unfortunate but necessary whilst we were in communication with Sony Ericsson to resolve this matter.

Motorola verschiebt Gingerbread Update für Milestone 2 (Teil 2)

Wie bereits geschrieben hatte sich Motorola dazu entschieden, das Gingerbread-Update von "frühes 4. Quartal" auf "Mitte November" zu verschieben (siehe "Motorola verschiebt Gingerbread Update für Milestone 2").

Gestern schrieben Motorola Europe auf seiner Facebook Seite "Thanks for these comments; we're working through final preparations to the update for MS2 and we'll advise when it's available to download as soon as we hear. Thanks!"

Auf Deutsch: "Danke für diese Kommentare; wir arbeiten [uns] durch die letzten Vorbereitungen auf das Update für das MS2 und wir werden [hier] bekannt geben, wenn es zum Download verfügbar ist, sobald wir davon hören. Danke!"

Auf einmal ist kein genauerer Zeitpunkt (der bereits genannte "Mitte November" Termin - der übrigens mittlerweile schon vorbei ist) mehr zu lesen, sie werden mit ihrer Zeitangabe plötzlich mehr als vage. Ist das ein Zeichen dafür, daß Motorola den Termin wieder verschiebt? Sollte der Support eines Unternehmens nicht in der Lage sein, eine Deadline bei den Programmierern zu erfragen und dann den Kunden einen genauen Termin für die Freigabe des Updates zu nennen? Oder nach welchem Kalender lebt Motorola?

Sony Ericsson forced xperiablog.net to close today

This is their last entry, one of my favorites sites concerning Sony Ericssons mobiles:

"It is with great sadness that we have to bring you the news that this will be the last post on this website. Sony Ericsson has filed a formal complaint about the use of the trademarked ‘Xperia’ name in our domain name and have requested that the domain names, including that of XperiaX10.net, be transferred to them.

Sony Ericsson is alleging that we have used the domain names in “bad faith”. We are stunned and disappointed that Sony Ericsson, a company that we have spent much of our free personal time in promoting, especially the Xperia brand, has decided to take this formal action against us. After all we are just like you, passionate Sony Ericsson users, who have strived to bring the community breaking news and an independent viewpoint.

We do not have the resources to fight Sony Ericsson on this and therefore this is the last you will hear from us. Sony Ericsson has made great strides in its Xperia portfolio, especially in listening to the community. This makes it all the more confusing as to why Sony Ericsson would want to shut us down. We genuinely believe that 2012 could be a bumper year for the company, we just wish we could have been there along for the ride.

But at least they decided to keep their Twitter account @XperiaBlog. Probably we'll read there how they intend to continue ...

Motorola verschiebt Gingerbread Update für Milestone 2

Sony Ericsson hat es 2010 "vorgemacht", jetzt kopiert es Motorola mit den Updates für das Atrix, Milestone 2 und Xoom.

So schrieben sie am 11. Oktober um 21:16 Uhr: "Hallo zusammen, viele von euch warten gespannt auf das 2.3 Update für das Motorola ATRIX und das Motorola MILESTONE 2 sowie das 3.2 Update für das Motorola XOOM, und wir arbeiten daran, euch die neue Software schnellstmöglich zur Verfügung stellen zu können.
Da noch zusätzliche Überarbeitungen nötig sind, werden wir euch das Update für das Motorola XOOM voraussichtlich Ende Oktober bereitstellen können und für das Motorola ATRIX und MILESTONE2 Mitte November. Wir werden euch natürlich hier noch einmal informieren, sobald die Software erhältlich ist."

Auf Deutsch: "Hallo Jurgis [Anm. des Bloggers: das ist ein Name], ja wir updaten das Milestone 2 wird das Gingerbread Update dieses Quartal erhalten. Danke!" [Anm. des Bloggers: Grammatikalisch korrekt übersetzt, Fehler von Motorola]

Noch vor wenigen Wochen hieß es sogar, das Update würde "frühes viertes Quartal" veröffentlich werden, also irgendwann im Oktober.

Die Verschieberei erinnert mich sehr an das Eclair Update von Sony Ericssons Xperia X10, welches von "gleich nach dem Verkaufstart" (April 2009) auf mehr als ein Jahr später (Mitte November 2010) immer wieder verschoben worden ist. Damals bin ich von Sony Ericsson zu meinem jetzigen Motorola Milestone 2 gewechselt.

Sony Ericsson hat aber aus seinem Fehler gelernt und veröffentlicht jetzt Updates zeitnah ... und ich kaufe mittlerweile wieder Sony Ericsson Mobiltelefone.
